Combe Knauss House

con_winter_01An original 3800sf low-rise rancher was gutted and increased by 1200sf without enlarging its footprint; the original garage space was converted to living space. One of the clients, a writer, had need for a space of her own to work; her home office is now atop the new kitchen which is open to the double-height family areas below but able to be closed off with large sliding panels at the bookcase/railing. Wood decks were extended to include a screened-in dining porch and a balcony off the writer’s space. The original portion of the house was opened to the outside via new fenestration.
